BIOGRAPHY

Brooks Bigley, better known as "DJ Broox", was a late addition to the musical genius of Fortune-N-Fame. DJ Broox hails as half of the production and engineering team for Fortune-N-Fame (he wrote and produced the beat for the above remix track "WHOA"), and has been producing Hip-Hop/Rap for over 6 years. He started out in a musical engineering class back in high school, and has led a rather colorful path through the "ins and outs" of the Hip-Hop music scene.

DJ Broox was born and raised in San Francisco, CA, and became fascinated by the Rap/Hip-Hop world at an early age. The first rap album he owned was by 10x platinum recording artist M.C. Hammer back in the early 90's. "I listened to that tape so much, my mom was starting to sing the chorus," says DJ Broox, who drove his mother crazy with his growing collection of Bay Area Rap. "I was the only one in my elementary school that could recite any 2Pac song by heart." He would later grow an affinity to poetry, but decided early on that creating the music was his ultimate love.

DJ Broox bought all of his producing and recording equipment shortly after high school, and began producing late into the night in his spare time. After several attempts to produce for a few local underground Rap artists he met in college, and after being praised for his production style by famous Vallejo producer Khayree (of Young Black Brotha Records, Mac Mall's first label), DJ Broox was approached by a family friend of Fortune-N-Fame in early 2004. An exhilarating phone call from Popa Joe soon followed, and a positive meeting with Fortune-N-Fame led to DJ Broox becoming inducted into the F-N-F family.

DJ Broox has a sound that is commonly compared to that of famous Los Angeles producer DJ Quik, though lately his style runs more in the same vein as Oakland producer E-A-Ski. He creates detailed and orchestral melodies that are intertwined with catchy choruses and intriguing drum arrangements. Only time will tell if DJ Broox can solidify his career into Bay Area Rap History the way his Hip-Hop heroes before him have.
